The latest creation of the Borrego Art Institute is the ArtFarm, an expanded art, food, and education campus, including new parking facilities and a creative approach to urban farming in the desert. Soon locally grown fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers will provide farm-to-fork  delight, a novel experience for desert dwellers and visitors.

The ArtFarm allows BAI to extend its mission to encourage and provide instruction in the arts in the Borrego Springs community by including culinary arts, gardening, community sustainability, and research into cutting edge, desert friendly, organic  farming practices. The farm will serve as an educational and event venue, and provide access to locally grown produce for the BAI restaurant, Borrego Springs Community and local chefs. Local middle school students will actively participate in all aspects of the ArtFarm, learning about planting, growing, harvesting and marketing the produce.

The estimate to complete Phase I is $30,000. Will you help us sprout? Your donations will help us buy:

  • 2000 blocks to build 14 raised planter beds, 25’ X 4’ (total cost $500/bed)
  • Necessary soil amendments
  • Fruit trees, seeds, and plants
  • Irrigation system supplies
  • Shed and foundation
We will deeply appreciate any amount you feel moved to contribute -- small donations add up! We remind you that your contribution to the Borrego Art Institute, a 501c3 organization, is fully tax-deductible. We're excited about making this outreach because in a few short months, we’ll be able to see and taste the fruits (and vegetables!) of our labors!
