In this class, we will work with both photograms and digital negatives using cyanotype with botanical toning. The class will provide a hands-on opportunity to explore cyanotype and experiment with different natural substances to tone your prints. This process takes cyanotype to another level by broadening the color palette, making the cyanotype process even more versatile. This class is not a cut-and-dried science but a limitless opportunity for discovery and surprises.

Artist Bio
My artistic background is in alternative photographic processes, papermaking, and mixed media. My MFA, at the University of Oregon, was based on the exploration of alternative processes on fabric, focusing on cyanotype and Van Dyke prints. In my current work, I am exploring botanical-themed alternative processes on paper. I have devoted the last 15 years of my life to the study of plants as a teacher and clinical herbalist. This is a merging of my two life passions: art and plants.
