KidsArt – Mandala Ornaments

Children will explore the various elements of plants by creating all natural ornaments in a two-hour workshop.
In this class we will:
– Explain what a Mandala is and the concept of symmetry
– Show how to make a Mandala
– Using slices of wood with holes and attaching string hangers
– All natural plant material art supplies will be provided to create the Mandala
– All glue and other materials will be provided, an explanation on how to glue
– Kids take home their art creations and put on the Christmas tree or give as a gift
Julia Briest is a plant based eco-artist working mostly with plant and Earth materials to make her Earth Art Creations and Mother Earth Mandalas. Julia gathers these items on her hikes in the desert and accepts donations from others who support her art. Julia’s detailed natural fiber art represents this bountiful earth and awakens us to see Mother Earth’s natural creations through a new lens.
Julia’s creations have been awarded at juried shows such as Joshua Tree National Park Art Expo 2021, 2023, 2024 and Environmental Education Collaborative 2023. Her art is displayed throughout southern California at the Integratron, Cactus Mart, 29 Palms Art Gallery, Dorado806 Gallery, Garcia Center for the Arts and Borrego Art Institute.
