Starry Nights features paintings by Sarah Soward that combine the astronomy and mythology of the cosmos into wildlife paintings. She has multiple on-going series in this theme. Enjoy everything from her (re)interpretations of constellations to myth-based Rhino Moon and elephantastic Wandering Stars paintings.

Soward (pronounced SOH-wurd) is a professional artist born in Germany. She holds a BFA from California College of the Arts (CCA). She primarily works in oil and acrylic painting, but is also adept with gouache, watercolor, laser engraving, and digital art. She believes that the medium should suit the message, so she maintains a broad skillset.

Highlights of her career include:

  • Luna, will go to the Moon as part of the curated Lunar Codex in late 2024
  • Acquisition of a painting by the Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs
  • Multi-year Finalist in the Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition at the Mall Gallery in London
  • Two of her rhino paintings traveled with the Artist4Rhinoexhibition, one exhibited at the Museo Civico de Storia Naturale di Genova, Italy
  • Sky Creature featured in the Londonist and BBC Wildlife Magazine
